Small Worlds

Here in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland we lie in the path of the Gulf Stream, something which brings us many wonderful warm sunny days and allows our beautiful country to grow palm trees alongside more traditional natives such as the Scottish Thistle, something we have growing in our garden just now! Just recently though the Gulf Stream blew in the tail end of Hurricane Irene, something which we know has affected our friends in the USA. By the time it reached us it was somewhat diminished but it is something that often happens here - we know that just a short time after a major snowstorm or hurricane, it travels across the Atlantic ocean to us! Natures way of reminding us that, without modern day technology such as blogs, Facebook or Twitter, we still live in a small world!

Speaking of small things, here are two recent miniatures, a truly scrummy Roasted Tomato & Goats Cheese Tart with Quinoa, Bulgar & Halloumi Salad plus White Chocolate Brownies with Raspberries & Almonds. Also, British Bacon Sandwiches! Finally there's a photograph of those beautiful Scottish thistles in our garden, a true symbol of our country!
