Heart Shaped Sponge Cakes!

How the first month of the year has flown by! We have had hurricane force winds here this week, blowing us into February with a vengeance!! This, of course, leads us to St. Valentines Day so it's the perfect time to serve up these 4 Individual Heart Shaped Sponge Cakes! With 2 vanilla sponge cakes topped with icing and fruit and 2 red velvet sponge cakes topped with frosting and sugar flowers this surely must be the most tempting way to say "Be My Valentine" in 1:12th scale!

Celebrating Burns Night With A Sweet Tooth!

It's Burns Night here in Scotland this Friday, the day every year when we celebrate the life and work of Scotlands famous son, Robert Burns! One of the most important aspects of this celebration has to be food!! The Burns Supper does, of course, include the Haggis but there are other traditional elements to the meal too and one of these is the Cranachan, the ingredients for which include whipped cream, raspberries, oatmeal and even a drop of whiskey if you wish!! This particular Scottish Cranachan was a recent commission which, along with the shortbread garnished with Scottish Heather has gone off to celebrate January 25th in its new home but the plate of Homebaked Scottish Shortbread on the right of the first photograph has just been added to our Etsy store!

French Almond & Raspberry Cakes!

The second weekend of the year and already on sunny days there is light on the horizon until well on the way to six o'clock! It's almost as if you can see the light of Spring at the end of the tunnel! Of course the weather forecasters keep mentioning those dreaded words "ice" and "snow" so it's definitely still time to climb inside the dollhouse and keep warm and cosy with a slice of cake!! These French Almond & Raspberry Cake Slices with sponge that makes you wish they were real and you could sink your teeth into them are the perfect antidote to frosty nights!
