Memories & Miniatures

There's no limits to making miniatures, it's not limited by any boundaries or possibilities, it can take you to all those places your imagination dreams of! We talked recently about family history and the inspiration the farm kitchens of our ancestors had been for mini making and it is all so true, making miniatures can take you into the past, the future or just recreate something from the present so that you never have to let it go! Miniatures are something that transcend the door of the dolls house & sit just as well as a memory or decoration in the Big House!

This Making Pesto - Pestle & Mortar would look very nice on the miniature kitchen table, busy with all the work of the day laid out preparing the evening meal! It's the tiny details of real life that fit so well into the miniature life!!

Homewardflight is also featured on The Mini Food Blog this week so don't forget to pop by & have a look! Everything in our Etsy store also still has 30% off, just enter Coupon Code SPRING30 at checkout!

Baking Day!

In the 19th Century, some of our ancestors lived on farms, places where everything that reached the table came from the land & the farmhouse would always be full of wonderful smells from the kitchen! Baking Day would be a regular fixture in the weekly calendar and would mean the kitchen table would finish the day full of bread, cakes, everything tasty to see you through the week! It was thoughts of this that inspired this  Mixing Bowl Full of Ingredients & Whisk, full of chocolate chips, flour, eggs - everything for a stupendous cake! Makes you hark back to the days of licking out the bowl!

Homewardflight was featured on The Mini Food Blog on Valentine's Day, a great blog with some incredible artisans! If you've never been before, it's somewhere that you'll want to visit regularly!

Back to work, some more sweet treats to come....but that's for next time!

Food Of Love & Hope!

There's been a real feeling of Spring in the air these last few days! The light in the sky just doesn't quite say Winter anymore & instead sparkles with hope of renewal & gorse bushes blooming into life all around us! There's nothing quite like the sense of excitement that a new season is almost here! Certainly daylight continues to flood through the windows much later already! Down by the loch this past weekend you felt as if even the birds knew that things were coming back to life! Oystercatchers scrabbling around on the shore, ferreting for the next meal & Herons stood majestically, waiting more patiently than the Oystercatchers to dive for their next fish!

Fish aren't on the menu in the dollhouse this Valentine's Day though! This Chocolatiers Selection is something for those really important special days in the miniature world at any time of the year! With over 40 chocolates, every single one is completely individual & were such fun to design! We also want to share with you a taste of fine growing weather with this Salad Box which recently went to a new home!

Before we hurry away to enjoy the real version of the Chocolatiers Selection this Valentines Night here's our new entry in the

Happy Valentine's Day!

A New Season...

February is here & on a Springlike day such as today, when the sun is shining & the sea & skies are blue it is not hard to believe that a new season is just around the corner! Indeed, our fellow islanders up north on the Shetland Isles saw January out & February in with Up Helly Aa, the largest fire festival in the whole of Europe which, for them, marks the Beginning of the End of Winter! Looking out of the window in front of the worktable today, we couldn't agree more!

The air is still chilly though, a lingering reminder that we have a few more weeks to wait yet until the official arrival of Spring so if you missed our Winter Vegetable Box project in the Artisans in Miniature Advent Calendar then you have another chance as it is currently featured in Issue 39 of the Artisans in Miniature iMag, their special Project Edition!
