Etsy Store & A Chocolate Owl!

So thrilled that there's finally been time to get our Etsy store back in business! New look header uploaded and we're off! There's a few things added just now, including a gorgeous chocolate owl (anyone remember 'Grub' from BBC's Springwatch last year?!) but lots of other things on the way, including some more chocolaty treats. You can never have too much miniature chocolate!

Tiny pumpkins! Doesn't the 1/12th scale version look so small sitting on the big one, aren't miniatures amazing?! Have a great night if you're heading out guising with the wee, or not so wee, ones tonight!

 

 

 

Projects!

The fantastic issue 56 of the AIM (Artisans In Miniature) imag is out now and features two brilliant projects in my latest "A Miniature Eye On The Hebrides" column - an Autumn Rock and a really unusual Aurora Borealis vase!

 

Also out is the November issue of DHMS and part two of Good Old Fashioned Comfort Food, the second in my series on Traditional British Food! The clocks have gone back and it's getting dark so much earlier now so it's definitely time to come in from the cold to favourites such as Lancashire Hotpot and Toad In The Hole! There's also a personal favourite of mine, red cabbage and apple!

New DHMS Magazine Series!

New month, new series! Lots of exciting things coming up over the next few months!

Raspberry Sponge Cake & The Northern Lights!

Amongst the new things added to the website this past week was this raspberry sponge cake! With lots of highly detailed/textured sponge, it seems to have been very popular on our new Instagram!

 

It's also been a fantastic week for the Northern Lights here on the Isle of Skye! We were treated to a spectacular display on Wednesday night.....here's a few photos! It's only September too, we haven't reached the dark winter nights yet so lots more to come!!

 

 

 

 

 

Chocolate Lollipops!

Anyone remember these scrummy looking miniature chocolate lollipops? Featured in Dolls House & Miniature Scene magazine in the October 2014 issue as part of the sweet shop at the culmination of my series following sweets through the ages, they have just been added to the website to find their forever home! There's lots of things on the website which have been featured in my magazine series' so don't forget to dig in and have a look this Bank Holiday!

Miniature Wartime Sweets In DHMS Magazine!

Summer 2014 may be almost upon us but travel backwards to discover what sweet treat was hidden inside school air raid shelters as Sadie's project series reaches World War II in the July issue of Dolls House & Miniature Scene magazine.

 

Below, the sweets feature with something that's not miniature but something that was part of everyone's War - a genuine Wartime Identity Card which belonged to Sadie's uncle and is now never far away since it came into her care some twenty years ago.

Easter Simnel Cake!

For us, the smell of a traditional simnel cake is synonymous with Easter! There are very few things more delicious than golden fruit cake and marzipan together in one tempting slice of cake! Eaten going all the way back to medieval times, simnel cake is timeless and has an enduring appeal whether eaten for a love of marzipan or as a part of your own Easter traditions (or both!!). With this in mind, Easter 2014 couldn't go by without a simnel cake in our online store this Good Friday!

Spring Floral Cake Slices!

Every year Spring is a wonder that never diminishes with the passing of time, it's always as new and as joyous as the year before, whether it's watching a buzzard circling overhead from the worktable window, taking miniature inspiration from the daffodils on a walk by the shore on an early season day or admiring an otter made entirely from chocolate!!

 

It seems that no Springtime could possibly be complete without some of our signature cake slices decorated with sugar Spring flowers either and with this in mind these new Spring Floral Cake Slices have been popped into our Etsy store!
