Miniatures Make Time Stand Still!

Three months today and we'll all be celebrating Christmas Day! Hard to believe, isn't it? Time passes so quickly, each year seemingly faster than the last, yet we must always try to find ways throughout the months to make time stand still and create lots of wonderful memories to carry into the next year! It doesn't always have to be the big events in a year that create the most special of memories, either. Sometimes it can be the things of everyday life, watching the lights sparkle in the dolls house as the nights draw in or the moment you realise a new design has fallen into place in wonderful new ways you didn't expect!

The dolls house is the most amazing way to make time stand still, creating worlds in miniature that you can stand and admire without everything rushing past in a whirl! Even this new mini, the Vegetable Show Display, will remain fresh on the kitchen table as though life were unmoving! That is one of the incredible things about miniatures - they are our ability to freeze time....and what a magical one it is!

We can't go without telling you our exciting news this week.... Homewardflight's Halloween & Fall miniatures are currently featured on
     The Mini Food Blog
so don't forget to take a look!

Magic of the Season!

With the dark nights looming it's easy to become caught up in the sadness of Summer ending and the cold days dawning but there is so much to enjoy as we begin to slide through the door blown open by the Fall winds into a magical time of year. Nature gives us so much to enjoy just now and we have reached the point where we are starting to see migrating birds pass through our Islands as they fly to their wintering grounds, but there is also much sparkle to be found in all the festivals we have during Fall. It is a time rich with celebration and color. There's the Harvest Festivals, Halloween, Thanksgiving & here in the UK, Guy Fawkes Night or Bonfire Night when the skies will be alive with color as fireworks and bonfires are lit in commemoration of the foiling of the 1605 Gunpowder Plot, all joyous occasions full of light, celebration and smells of the season!

Magic is a theme brought into this latest miniature - a Halloween Witching Hour Feast just waiting to cast a spell over the dolls house! We love bringing everyone photographs of new minis and can't wait to see what other miniature magic this Fall is going to bring!

Small Worlds

Here in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland we lie in the path of the Gulf Stream, something which brings us many wonderful warm sunny days and allows our beautiful country to grow palm trees alongside more traditional natives such as the Scottish Thistle, something we have growing in our garden just now! Just recently though the Gulf Stream blew in the tail end of Hurricane Irene, something which we know has affected our friends in the USA. By the time it reached us it was somewhat diminished but it is something that often happens here - we know that just a short time after a major snowstorm or hurricane, it travels across the Atlantic ocean to us! Natures way of reminding us that, without modern day technology such as blogs, Facebook or Twitter, we still live in a small world!

Speaking of small things, here are two recent miniatures, a truly scrummy Roasted Tomato & Goats Cheese Tart with Quinoa, Bulgar & Halloumi Salad plus White Chocolate Brownies with Raspberries & Almonds. Also, British Bacon Sandwiches! Finally there's a photograph of those beautiful Scottish thistles in our garden, a true symbol of our country!
